I really enjoyed this blog post about choice. You can either choose to do what you have always done or try to solve problems in a creative way. You did just that! I hope I will be able to solve problems creatively in my classroom. I also found it great that the two students in your classroom who are usually late with schoolwork actually got their work in on time when they could use technology! That is awesome. Kids are motivated in so many different ways. I will be visiting your blog again next week and will post a summary on my blog. Feel free to check it out. http://broughtonsydneyedm310fall2010.blogspot.com/Sydney Broughton's EDM 310 Class Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15867150817016566679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4544478785550865050.post-77087609765123760292010-10-23T07:30:07.207-07:002010-10-23T07:30:07.207-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Sydney Broughton's EDM 310 Class Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15867150817016566679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4544478785550865050.post-11630780136226817132010-10-19T05:49:15.924-07:002010-10-19T05:49:15.924-07:00Leslie,

I teach in a small school, so by the time these kids are in 6th grade they are just sick of each other. The beginning of the school year isn't new and exciting for friendships, it's just the same old kids doing their same old things they did last year and the 5 years prior.Becky Goerendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14297050793456171803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4544478785550865050.post-65918033666880680232010-10-18T20:08:50.120-07:002010-10-18T20:08:50.120-07:00Hey Becky,

I enjoyed reading your post. As a student myself, I do get bored of the "same ole, same ole". It is important for there to be change in the classroom to keep the students attention.
I will be visiting your blog again next week and will be posting a summary of my visits on My Blog. I'm always changing something for the better!

Sometimes I think kids are taken aback with choice. They are so used to being told they must do it a certain way that their reaction to choice is interesting sometimes!Becky Goerendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14297050793456171803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4544478785550865050.post-78194188554874030442010-10-17T15:40:49.182-07:002010-10-17T15:40:49.182-07:00Becky,

I think that we constantly need to be reflecting on what works and trying new things. We need to be flexible and willing to challenge the idea that things have to be the way they've always been.

In my classroom, I always give students choice. This is usually a choice in process. They have guidelines, but can create the final product using the images, sounds, text, etc.... of their choice. Eventually, they will get to use the tool of their choice.

If we don't change and adapt we will, as you state, 'burn out.'mshertzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02995665815087186953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4544478785550865050.post-27899089878493859182010-10-17T11:56:57.404-07:002010-10-17T11:56:57.404-07:00Steal away, Barbara! I'll be stealing this idea. I think my kids would really enjoy using the Flipcam. Maybe we could have them add to a Wallwisher too.Barbara Dayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06996749596538989236noreply@blogger.com
