Creative Juices
Lately, if you follow me on Twitter, know me on Pinterest, or are connected with me on Facebook, you see I haven't been sharing much about education. More of my time outside of school work has been spent crafting, idea gathering, starting a shop, and sharing about what I'm doing. My husband never knows what I'm up to. I will go in the other room, run the sewing machine or hot glue gun for a while, and come back with a creation. I feel alive! How can we transfer this feeling to our students who may feel trapped in the day-to-day reading, math, and writing? What sort of things are you doing to allow your students (or staff, my administrator friends!) to feel alive in their creativity?

Hello, my name is Diane Boudreau. I am from EDM310 at the University of South Alabama. I absolutely agree with you! Creativity is being lost among the children and as teachers, or future teachers, it is our job to restore it. I personally love to paint, and what child doesn't want to finger paint? That is an easy project that can be turned into a learning experience!
ReplyDeleteHi! My name is Kaitlin Boatman and I am a student at the University of South Alabama in Mobile Alabama. I am also addicted to crafting and pinterest! I agree with you that creativity is being lost among students. They get so bogged down in the reading, writing and math that they forget it is okay to be creative. I believe that as teachers we should embrase children's creativity. We should turn a traditional lesson into a fun creative project!
ReplyDeleteHey!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Susie Salter, and I am a student at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. I commented on another one of your posts a few weeks ago. I really like the fact that you understand that everyone needs a niche. For most people, sitting around doing boring schoolwork is draining. I wish there were more teachers who understood this. I personally hope to come up with a lot of creative activities when I become an English teacher. Creative writing is the best. Kids get to experience a freedom that will help them in all aspects of life.
